NEW WAYS, NEW DOORS
"My name is Mwanzia and I come from Taita and I learned how to weave as a young girl, now I am a grandmother in my sixties. Through the years we have seen the market changes and with time it has become less and less profitable to be in this trade. It has been very sad because the last time we sold a big consignment was to some tourists who visited our village before the Corona wave. Economically it has never been worse than this. When Carakana came we were encouraged because we had so much stock and not much ideas on how we can add value to what we had. But now we are learning new ways and they have opened new doors for us, we are now working with a lot of gladness knowing that our products will find market. Asante Carakana!"
