In the 19th century stationeries, like paper holder or pencil case, were produced in white porcelain. This is a pencil case. Particularly pencil cases are richly decorated with bratticing and engravings. This is basically a white porcelain pencil case but the decoration was filled with blue dyes and colours. The phoenix picture was particularly unique as it was coloured with blue. (Dm 16.8cm, Db 16.0cm)
