A lithograph of four animal species created by the South African illustrator and artist Clare Abbott (b.1921). The work, plate 23 was created for the first edition of the book, "The Mammals of the Southern African Sub-Region" published in 1983. The page depicts a White rhino with two red-billed Oxpeckers, Warthog, Black rhino and Bush pig with two piglets. Short Biography: Clare Pauline Abbott (née Hinshelwood) was born 5 July 1921 in Castle Eden in Durham, England. She permanently moved to South Africa in 1961 and was primarily involved in the art illustration of wildlife books and detailed natural history paintings.
