WILHELMINA VON HALLWYL, GOING TO MENA HOUSE HOTEL.

Mena House was originally a hunting lodge, built for Khedive, Ismail Pasha in 1869. It was sold to private owners in the 1880s and was soon rebuilt as a hotel with 80 rooms. The hotel opened in 1886 and in 1890 it opened the first swimming pool in Egypt. The hotel was just by the pyramids and was a perfect viewpoint for the wealthy.

The von Hallwyls visited the hotel a couple of times, once on 13 December to eat breakfast after having visited the pyramids.
