Hing Hay Park, located on South King Street, was dedicated in 1975. The Chinese words mean "pleasurable gathering." Its elaborate pagoda was designed and constructed in Taiwan. A memorial in the park honors Chinese Americans who died in World War II. Lem Tuai was appointed to the Seattle City Council in 1969 and ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 1974. He was later appointed to the state Superior Court.
