Irene is one of the women supported by Carakana Program and here she shares her story: NO MORE ILLEGAL TRADE
"My name is Irene, I am a 33-year-old married mother of three and currently imprisoned at Lang’ata Women’s Prisons. I joined Carakana in 2016, I worked on the cross-stitch pattern of Winnie the Pooh & Friends. It took me one month to finish. The money I have received has helped me send some money home for my child’s school fees and meet my personal needs here. At times I use the money to buy medicine when I fall sick. With cross-stitching, I'm assured of an income hence I no longer think about doing any illegal trades. May God bless Carakana. "
