Pungcha is a winter headgear of the Joseon Dynasty, and also called pungchae or hoieom. It was made to cover the back of the neck and wrap around the cheeks. The exterior was made in black, purple, or navy, while the inside was lined with cotton flannel or silk, and the hem was made with fur. Toward the late Joseon Dynasty, more headgears were made with cheek muffs, which were tied together at the back when in disuse.
