Winter Rural Landscape

Stanisław Czajkowski (1878–1954) was the younger brother of Józef Czajkowski, and was also a painter, designer, architect, and the would-be husband of Olga Boznańska. He was educated in Kraków, Paris, and Much at the dawn of the 20th century. During his studies in Kraków, Stanisław Czajkowski belonged to the group of students of Józef Czajkowski, a leading educator and landscapist. Following in the footsteps of his teacher, he focused his activities on landscapes, nature scenes, and genre painting. His output features themes of village life near Kraków, flowery meadows, and snow melt. From 1926 onwards, Czajkowski was associated with Warsaw, where after the Second World War he took up the position of chair of the Faculty of Painting and Drawing at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts.
