Without known title (heart, cactus, fetus)

Fertility was one of the themes that most obsessed Frida. It is represented in several of her paintings, in which a relation between human beings, the earth, and blood is clearly expressed. In this case, it is expressed through three closely related elements: a cactus whose large leaves simulate the legs of a woman, with the sperm seeking an ovule to fecundate; a fully-formed embryo floating in the air, attached to the cactus by an umbilical cord that is intertwined in the branches of a plant; and a heart, with blood spurting from the arteries to fertilize and give life to the earth. A black cloud in the sky presages the uncertain future of the fetus, as if announcing the fact that it will never be born.
