This certificate is the return made by the medical officer who certified the death of the prisoner. It was subpoenaed and published in the Government Gazette, public confirmation that the execution had taken place. Sheriff Rede notes in his own report of the execution to the Chief Secretary that only a very few people turned up to witness the execution.
