In 1921, Pan Yuliang went to France and studied in LyonSino-French Institute (Institut Franco-Chinois de Lyon) andthe National School of Fine Arts of Lyon (École Nationale desBeaux-Arts de Lyon) successively. In 1925 she graduated from the National School of Fine Arts in Paris, France ( École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris ) and won the scholarship to study in Rome University of Fine Arts (Accademia di Belle Arti Di Roma) which made her the first easterner enrolled into the college. Her works were displayed in the Roman Art Fair. She won art prize from Italian government. In 1929 she went back to China and took up the position of president of the Western Painting Department of the Shanghai Fine Art School. She was the professor of the Art Department of National Central University. In 1937 she settled in Paris and served as president of Paris Chinese Art Society.
