Museo de Arte Popular José Hernández
Buenos Aires, Argentina

Origin: Department of Ramón Lista in the Province of Formosa (north-western Argentina). Handicraft made by the indigenous Wichi community. In the forest (monte formoseño) native women are dedicated to the incredible task of taking from the land its hidden treasures. With skill and talent, their laborious hands turn the chaguar (fleshy plant with thorns) into the thread that will knit their weavings. They find colors to dye them, in the mountain, in the barks, roots and leaves of trees.
