The reuse of ancient themes in contemporary settings is known as mitate. This depicts Osen, a server at the public teahouse near Kasamori-inari shrine, carrying a lantern on her way to a Shinto shrine on a rainy night. This mitate is based on a mysterious event that happened to Ki no Tsurayaki, a poet, author, and courtier, when he passed Aridoshi Shrine.
