Woman with the Artist

One of the most beautiful works of Vytautas Kasiulis, painted whilst teaching in Freiburg, Germany, is the composition Woman with the artist. This canvas features the most significant characteristics of the painter’s revived creativity, that gradually became part of the painter’s artistic program: decorativity, the absence of perspective, streamlined contours of items and objects, soft strokes, a preference for light, warm, consonant colours, and a tendency to aesthetitize the objects being depicted. The woman in the artist’s studio is one of the most subtle themes that accompanied the painter for the duration of his creative life.
