The pouch is closed by a drawstring consisting of tasselled cord threaded through brass rings. Another tassel hangs from the bottom of the pouch. There are plaited bands around the edges and between these a narrow border of embroidered leaves. On one side of the pouch is the figure of an Ottoman man holding a çubuk (long pipe), wearing a kaftan lined with fur, turban and şalvar trousers. His belt and turban plume are embroidered with beads. In the background is a palm tree and to his right a small table with jugs on. To his left is a dog holding a pouch in its mouth. On the other side of the pouch is the figure of a woman depicted in detail, with plaited hair, a decorative headdress, short-sleeved kaftan lined with fur over a dress with a sprig pattern, and jewellery. Her jewellery, plumed headdress ornament and belt are embroidered with beads. On the left is a guitar and on the right a small table bearing a basket of flowers. Both figures are standing on a green ground embroidered in velvet thread.
