Woman’s Sash

A kembenis a traditional style of bandeau worn by women in Indonesia’s Jawa Tengah (Central Java) region which utilizes a combination of ikat and weft-backed structures. Floral weft is comprised of gold and silver thread, and eight petal flowers and geometric patterns are woven together with a diamond-pattern trim, yielding a symmetrical design.
