The Alcoholism Center for Women (ACW) was founded in 1974 as one of the first residential and outpatient treatment programs for and by women and lesbians. In 1987, community members succeeded in saving the buildings from demolition by nominating them as Historic-Cultural Monuments. Fifty years later, ACW continues to offer pathways to community and healing at their historic buildings.
