Corks for wine bottles are made from the bark of the cork tree. The supervisor is the only male in the otherwise all-female workshop. The workers here are finishing the rough-cut pieces of cork to be sent to the wineries. It's interesting that the artist is more focused on the overall composition, structure and atmosphere of the piece rather than on the details of the work being done.
