The ‘Wondrous Tales’ of the Westcar Papyrus were recorded inapproximately 1600 BC, although they are set at the royal court during the time of the pyramid builders of the Old Kingdom. They report, in an ironic manner, certain miraculous occurrences which exceed the powers of the Pharaoh and predict the arrival of a new dynasty. It is the longest classical literary text in Egypt.
