Woodcarving is a traditional craft of Uttarakhand. Intricate carvings have adorned the houses and temples of Uttarakhand since a long time. These carvings were generally inspired by the nature surrounding the villages. While earlier, the craft was seen on temple and houses, today, these structures are replicated into small sized models using the same craft. In this video, Woodcarving artisan Murli Dhar creates a small sized replica of the Badrinath Temple, and talks about his focused devotion to his craft, and why concentration is important for the end product.
