This rare wooden fragment is from one of the Hindenburg's four massive 4-bladed fixed-pitch propellers. It miraculously survived the Hindenburg's fiery demise in 1937 when it was thrown clear of the airship during the explosion. Powering each propeller was a Daimler-Benz DB-602 16-cylinder engine, capable of producing over 1300 hp. Nothing on the Hindenburg lacked in size as each propeller had a diameter of almost 20 feet.
