An adult caribou looks directly at the camera from a meadow in Jasper National Park. This caribou is from the Central Mountain population, part of the Tonquin heard. The animal’s large antlers reach high above its head as it stands amongst grasses and shrubs, which appear in tones of brown and yellow, showing early autumn colours. The backdrop near the top of the image shows a stand of green conifer trees.
