Woodland Scene

In the foreground a green bank dotted with yellow and white flowers borders a brook in half shadow which reflects the trees on the farther side. To the right is the end of a bridge fence where two cows and a peasant woman pause. Beyond trees, in sunlight, a group of farm buildings, white with red roofs, hugs curve of road just visible to right. Dull grey-blue sky can be seen through foliage.
