Working on the Yerba Buena Viaduct and the South Cable of the Western Span, San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge

The "saddle" referred to in the top-most photograph is a device at the top of each tower of a suspension bridge that carries the main suspension cables. The saddles allow the cables to flex and shift under load without threatening the overall structure.

In the lower photograph, a worker seals the surface of the viaducts on Yerba Buena Island.
