World War I Dutch Ivora Neutrality Plate

A World War I Dutch Ivora neutrality plate that was created by the P van der Want Plateelbakkerij Ivora or Ivora Ceramic Kiln, in the town of Gouda in 1918. It celebrates the neutrality of The Netherlands during the First World War (1914-1918) and depicts a Dutch soldier looking to the left wearing a typical army winter coat. The decision by the Dutch Government to stay neutral during the war was very unpopular with most of the inhabitant of The Netherlands. However, after the war ended and the devastation of Belgium became evident, this neutrality decision was hailed a great success.
