Colonel Arthur Joseph Ericsson obtained this souvenir scarf in Europe while serving with the Kansas Army National Guard in World War II. Following the war the Emporia, Kansas native gifted the scarf to his niece. On the cloth are images of allied war heroes including: French President Raymond Pioncare, King Albert I of Belgium, King George V of Great Britain, French Field Marshal Joseph Joffre, British General John French, and President Woodrow Wilson.
Like other U.S. states and regions across the globe, Kansans have served and died in war. The Kansas Museum of History aims to remember them through what they left behind. To see more from our collection please visit: https://www.kshs.org/kansapedia/wars/14569
