This is a stationary item for momentarily resting a writing brush, and is also called pilgyeok (writing brush support). Its shape is peaked like a mountain to support a writing brush. Porcelain was favored as the production material, and jade or stone were also used. The rack is generally small in size, and often served a decorative purpose alongside a dropper. The piece shown here is made of jade, and takes the form of a triangular prism with grooved edges. Each of the three edges have four carved grooves for writing brushes to be placed on them, and it can be used regardless of which edge is facing upward.
