This memorial represents and is reflective of the sacrifices that US men and women made in World War I.
this urban memorials concept is separated into two areas; one is a passive park and the second the memorial. Utilizing the two existing access will help in organizing the site. The first along Pennsylvania Avenue with access provided to the passive park (creating the wedge); second more east west access will be organized and provide access to the memorial (this access links across other plazas/memorials on either side.). The memorial is divided into three main parts (AEF three armies) the Pershing plaza to the east (as originally oriented), the memorial arch to the west, and the center the recessed Plaza reflecting pool of remembrance.
