"Tim Haslett and I produced the 'School Beats' hip-hop radio show for several years on WZBC 90.3 FM in the mid-1990s. Half the show was 'old school' hip-hop (1980s) and half was independently released 'current' hip-hop, always going out of our way to feature local artists. As you can see, on this show, from February 11, 1997 we played records by and interviewed members of the local group God Complex, DJ 7-L and Shamus. We would later be known as 7L & Esoteric (and with Inspectah Deck, Czarface). 'School Beats' was preceded in the programming schedule by another show we produced, 'Funk to the Folks', which ran from 1992 to 2005 on WZBC. Tim Haslett moved to New York City in the late 1990s and I co-produced both the shows with Rani Nentill. Pictured, from left to right: Brian Coleman, Tim Haslett, and God Complex. Location: Chestnut Hill." Image contributed as part of the Show 'Em Whatcha Got Mass. Memories Road Show.
