Concert of Terretektorh by Iannis Xenakis, performed by Residentie Orkest in Holland Festival 2011.
This year’s Holland Festival will showcase the work of composer and architect Iannis Xenakis (1922-2001). The programme comprises four concerts, on 4 and 5 June, plus an exhibition about the connection between Xenakis’ architecture and his music, entitled Iannis Xenakis: Composer, Architect, Visionary.
The evening concert is dedicated to Terretektorh, in which Xenakis experimented with the acoustics of his music, by putting some of his musicians in the auditorium. The Residentie Orkest conducted by Arturo Tamayo will peform the piece twice. The audience is invited to change seats for the second run-through. In between, Arne Deforce will play the magnificent cello piece Nomos Alpha. The Residentie Orkest performs Nomos Gamma.
