Xong-e Azdhar is a small gorge (hong in local Lorestani) located at the steep, rocky foot of the mountains along the Izeh valley. Sometime around the 17th century BC an Elamite relief was carved at the site on a large boulder facing toward the valley. The relief is composed of two registers divided horizontally by a partly broken- off narrow platform. On the opposite side of the boulder facing the cliff, another relief was added in the Parthian period, perhaps depicting a scene of homage or investiture.
