Xu Shu Returning to Recommend Zhuge Liang

This artwork is based on the well-known Chinese literary classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms (三国演义). This piece illustrates a scene that shows the sovereign of the Shu State Liu Bei’s longing for talents and Xu Shu’s virtue of being grateful. After bidding a reluctant farewell to Xu Shu, Liu Bei was delighted to see Xu Shu coming back. Liu Bei rushed to welcome Xu Shu, who later recommend Zhuge Liang to Liu.
