Yame ni Matau. Adze blade. Yame ni Matau (the tongue of the adze), is carved from vatu (stone), with an oval cross-section, and dark grey in colour. The Yame ni Matau has a mildly sharp cutting edge, steep bevel, and with a rounded blade. Yame ni Matau has a high level polish all over, with the butt left pecked.
