Yash Chopra, the revolutionary filmmaker, producer and director, was born on 27th September, 1932. His journey began from the lush green fields of Punjab, which kept reappearing in his films in all their splendour. A trailblazer, he paved the way for Indian Cinema with his of filmmaking and storytelling. He passed away on 21 October 2012 (at the age of 80) leaving behind a legacy that will inspire generations to come.

He was bestowed the coveted Padma Bhushan Award, one of the country’s highest civilian honours in the year 2005 by the then Honourable President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

The Padma Bhushan was originally established in January 1954, and is awarded to recognize distinguished service of a high order to the nation, in any field. This particular year, Yash Chopra was selected for his immense contribution to the film industry.
