Yash Chopra, the revolutionary filmmaker, producer and director, was born on 27th September, 1932. His journey began from the lush green fields of Punjab, which kept reappearing in his films in all their splendour. A trailblazer, he paved the way for Indian Cinema with his of filmmaking and storytelling. He passed away on 21 October 2012 (at the age of 80) leaving behind a legacy that will inspire generations to come.

In 2001, Yash Chopra was chosen for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the topmost and the highest honour given in the Indian film industry for his remarkable contributions. 

The President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam presented the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2001 to Mr. Yash Chopra in the glittering 49th National Film Awards function held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on 13th February 2003. The then Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad, was also present on this occasion along with other luminaries of the film world.
