This is a view of the interior of one of the huts dotting the desolate wastelands of the Kutch district bordering Pakistan in northwestern Gujarat. Although the woman wrapped in the traditional clothing of this area carries a faint air of melancholy, the sight of the yellow covering the walls and the delightful geometric drawings on them creates a warm atmosphere in the room. In the Kutch district, although the climate is severe, with the landscape a marsh during the rainy season, and a desert in the dry season, what is depicted here is not that harshness, but rather the beauty that is born from the simple lifestyles of those who live there.
