Yemeni cultural landscape

Historic cities of Yemen are living urban settings where people and heritage try to coexist while improvements in infrastructure are being made in order to integrate and accommodate the growing population rates and their updated needs. These cities, some no larger than the size of a village, also act as social and cultural fabric since they are the synthesis between a local cultural tradition, exemplified by the regional building materials and techniques, and a national cultural identity because, across the entire country, it is possible to encounter social practices (and other components) that are emblematic of the peculiar character of the Yemeni people.
