The Book of Esther

This Scroll of Esther was written in Italian square script and illuminated in Ferrara, Italy, 1617 by Moshe ben Avraham Pescarol. Above the text columns colorful illuminations, in the style of the period, depict the various episodes of the Biblical book. Thus, delightful tableau of life in 17th century Italy, its costumes and customs, unfolds.
