"Young Lady in the Library" by Domenico Induno (1815-1878), a pupil of Francesco Hayez, is a painting with strong historical value. The central figure of the painting is in fact intent on carefully dusting a small painting of Giuseppe Garibaldi in a room where a map of Italy hangs on the wall. The work fully expresses the Risorgimento theme of the desire for an Italy that is finally united.
