Young sea urchin

This chalk drawing by PH Gosse shows the larval forms of the sea urchin (Echinus). These tiny creatures form part of the zooplankton in the oceans before they settle on a hard substrate and resemble the opaque, round, spiny creatures that are familiar rockpool finds.
