In Young Woman in a Landscape (also known as Seated Woman), the seated woman reading, and seems to become at one with her surroundings. This informal, freely brushed landscape of Renoir's last years, was most likely painted at Collettes, an estate in Cagnes-sur-Mer on the Mediterranean coast, which he bought and where he built a house in 1907-1908.
