- Artist Biography: Abraham Bloemaert, who was born in Utrecht and studied in Antwerpen, started to look at Caravaggio's style in his late career, after that his son and his pupil, Gerrit Van Hontorst, came back from Italy bringing such lesson. He was also involved in the great Mannerist decoration of Fointanbleau in France, and stopped for a few in Amsterdam. Particularly appreciated were his portraits and still life paintings.
