Representations of this kind, made of wood, as in this case, or stone, are common to several of Peru’s pre-Hispanic cultures. Some researchers interpret them as architectural models of cities, others think they were a form of abacus, used to count with small seeds, and others still believe them to have been objects used in highly symbolical games, where calculus and the spatial disposition of slots played a key role.
