Memorias Fotográficas de Tras Talleres

Between 2020 and 2021, the MAC en el Barrio team, in collaboration with Hester Street, architecture professor Omayra Rivera Crespo from the Polytechnic University, community leaders Olga Villa and Dimaris Jiménez, and a group of community volunteers and advisors from various fields, initiated the creation of a community strategic plan that will serve as a guide for the future establishment of the Museo de la Memoria de Tras Talleres. As part of the research process, 14 interviews were conducted with community members from different generations. Their stories inspired the project *Memorias Fotográficas de Tras Talleres*, a valuable oral history and memory initiative that proposes the community and its residents as the museum itself. The community exhibition project was composed of selected photographs from historical, family, and community archives, spanning from the 1940s to the past decade of the current century, complemented by five texts that weave together intergenerational narratives.
