The Zündapp works were founded in 1917 in Nuremberg. They were famous for their motorcycles and scooters. After World War II, the works were not permitted to resume production of motorcycles. The first Zündapp sewing machine was advertised as “modern, affordable, powerful.” Matching cabinets were assembled in the plant in Hohenlinden. In 1961, the production equipment and rights to the sewing machines were sold to a Spanish company.
