LAUNCHING OF THE "REGENT LIVERPOOL"

A new oil tanker, "Regent Liverpool", was launched today, Thursday, at the Belfast Shipyard of Harland and Wolff by Mrs. Charles C. Dunn, wife of the managing director of Regent Oil Company Limited. With a dead weight of 47,600 tons, and an overall length of 746 feet, "Regent Liverpool" is the biggest tanker ever built in Belfast. She is powered by Harland and Wolff geared turbines developing 16,500 s.h.p. at a service speed of 16 knots. "Regent Liverpool" is the 218th vessel in the Regent/Texaco/Caltex Group fleet which links a world wide network of more than 80 ocean terminals. The tanker will also serve the new refinery that Regent plans to build at Milford Haven.
