The work À La Lumière des Deux Mondes was shown for the first time in 2005, under the glass pyramid of the Louvre Museum. According to ar tist, the work’s conception was inspired by the show of works by Dutch painter Frans Post held in the museum that same year. Post was part of a retinue of European ar tists who came to Brazil in the 17th century, tasked with recording the Brazilian flora, fauna and landscape in images. The work evidences the contrast between the two worlds, along with the possible difficulties that the painter experienced while executing his paintings in South America, with its unique lighting totally different from that of the European continent.
