  • Notes: Ângelo Bobo was the son of a mason who left Italy to live in Brodowski, SP. He was well-known in the city, as Portinari noted in his diary: "Really nice, hardly said a word and lived among us his whole childhood. He always walked around with his hands behind his back, and was tall and very pale. He knew every person and every household; he would come to our house and head straight for the kitchen. He knew where the milk was kept and would help himself and then leave without saying a word. Sometimes he would disappear for three or four days and come back covered in red clay and all scratched up. That was his life, until one day he left and never came back. People say he must have fallen in a river somewhere" [LV 5, p. 46].
