Śnieżne Kotły (literally Snow Cauldrons) in winter

Georg Wichmann was a landscape painter specializing in the views of the Karkonosze Mountains. He began his artistic studies in Berlin, then continued in Wrocław, Królewiec and Karlsruhe. The artist was characterized by the assimilation of the principles and postulates of impressionism, which is reflected in the rich colors and luminosity of his paintings. Due to the dominant subject matter of his works, Wichmann was called the "painter of the Karkonosze Mountains". The presented painting shows the late period of the artist's creativity, when the paintings became more dynamic and the paint was put directly on the wooden surface.
