The Church of the Cathedral of the Holy Mother of God in the village of Matkiv, Lviv region, was built in 1838 in the style of the Boyko school of folk architecture by masters Ivan Melnykovych and Vasyl Ivanovych. This unique wooden sacred building is located on a low hill in the central part of the village. After the end of World War II and until 1989, the church was closed, and after it was reopened for worship, it was rededicated in honour of St. Demetrius.
